When I was a kid I LOVED the 4th of July. It was a time I got to be with my family, go to the parade and see all my friends I hadn't seen since school was out. Then we would do all the fun booths at the park. I long to give my children that small town proud of your county 4th where you just enjoy spending quality time together. This year the problem we found is being out side in July in Texas is just plain STUPID!!! We hit the parade but we forgot our chairs. So we find a tree and a little shade sit on the curb only to have the sun move and beat directly down on us with the shade going the other way. After the boys candy bags were filled and we just couldn't take the heat anymore we left. We were starving so we went to the local Mexican restaurant Chuys. It is so good.
Then we decided to venture around the park. DUMB DUMB DUMB. Again forgetting everything was Cash only we have $7.00 to our name. The boys wanted to go down these bouncy slide things which we found out was $2.00 a piece. So they went down once cried because it was so short and not worth the only money that they had so we went home. Later that evening we were invited to a BBQ at some ward members house. It was nice to have some place to go and meet new people. After Trevor got drenched and we had to cut it short. Ryan did his traditional lighting of the fireworks. He's such a pyro. But the boys can't seem to get enough. Something about fire has my kids mesmerized. We did enjoy being together. Even if it wasn't exactly the 4th of July of our dreams. But it will be one kept in our Memories. Next year I think we will do things a little differently. Alot more indoor activities with nice cold AC :)

Suz- we did the Cedar parade and let me just say, the Mohey Tawa girls looked SOOOOO YOUNG!!! I swear, we are totally getting old. Anyway, we opted to not do the park afterward either. The 4th just isn't the same as it used to be, huh?
P.S. What's going on with our new cute backgrounds? Yours disappeared, mine disappeared... what's going on?
At least you have your wagon to shade the young ones ;-) I was going to say that I didn't see Karen at the park or Teri. I did run into Tina B. she seems WAY happy & is getting married this weekend. We missed the parade but had a great time at the park. It's fun to see everyone and their kids now. But I have to admit, we only lasted 2 hours cuz it's so darn hot. ;-) Aren't those blow up things a joke on the price? RIDICULOUS! I'm with you on the indoor activities.. maybe we'll bake pies and watch parades on the tv?
Ahhh Texas summers! This my 6th summer here and I'm still not convinced I'll ever get used to it. I'm impressed you lasted outside as long as you did! Good job!!
