The oatmeal battle

Yesterday we went to the store to get Trevor's teacher a wedding gift. While we were there the boys convinced me to get them lunch ables for lunch today. I'm not a huge fan of lunch ables I feel they have no nutritional value what so ever. And when Trevor eats junk food he's uncontrollable. But Ryan's been out of town they have such a hard time when daddy is gone. And I never let them so I gave in and told them they could just this once. They carried their lunch ables all around the store and were so excited to bring them to school today. Knowing this is what they are going to have for lunch I wanted them to start the day with a nice Healthy breakfast. So I made oatmeal not the instant kind. The kind you soak over night and it's creamy and yummy and very healthy. I call them to breakfast and the TEARS start flowing. The war has now started. Using you can't get down until your breakfast is gone wouldn't work because Trevor doesn't care if he's late for school. And Josh was crying because Trevor was going to make him late for school. And Gavin was just throwing his oatmeal all over me and the floor. So finally I just said fine everyone just eat 3 bites or I'll take your lunch ables out and you can buy school lunch. DUH why didn't I think of this before all the fighting and screaming happened? I looked down and both of their bowls of oatmeal was gone!!! As I was cleaning up and they were getting on their shoes I heard Trevor tell Josh. "Don't tell Mom but man that was good oatmeal."
Why does everything have to be so complicated with kids?

Funny funny boys! My boys LOVE oatmeal. I just use the quick-oats and microwave it. I just add a little brown sugar and cinnamon, they have it for snacks almost every night. They actually like it better than the prepackaged "flavored" oatmeal and it is cheaper.

What are you doing the day after Thanksgiving? (after you hit all the stores for Black Friday deals). I was hoping we could get together that afternoon???? We are probably coming back that night so Ray can work on our basement all day Saturday.

Do you ever wonder why we even bother with cleaning since a mess is bound to happen especially with boys? I wish I knew of a wet/dry vacuum that also sucked up food like mac & cheese, hot dogs, spaghetti, OATMEAL, corn, pease, etc. Because I would buy it immediately.

I loved the last part about not telling you how yummy it was! Hah! That's hysterical!

Funny post (as usual)!
I got a kick out of this- I can so relate to the breakfast scenario. Except the lunchable part- I'm really bad about using those as back ups on rushed mornings- I need to use them more as "special" treats like you mentioned and use them to my advantage- thanks for the tip :)

So funny. I remember the "can't leave the table" threat. Not with me, I ate everthing, but with my sister.

You are a very witty writer.
