My sweet little boy
turned 9 on June 20th. He was counting down the days and this June has been a
bit of a crazy one so I didn't give him the proper blog post I usually do. But
that doesn't mean we didn't celebrate it. The night before he went to bed he asked.
"Mom do you want me to stay in bed until you call me down tomorrow?"
When I asked why he said. "So you'll have time to put up all the balloons
and decorate the house!!" What?? This kid doesn't know me to well I'm not
into that fancy decorate the whole house kind of birthday celebration. But this
was his lucky day I had a bunch of helium left over from our dreadful Christmas
gift gone wrong and it came with balloons so that night we filled a few and put
them on the stairs and his chair. He was so happy when he woke up that I was
glad he wasn't expecting much more :)... I sure do love Joshua and feel so
blessed to be his Mom.
We had a family party
and he requested crepes for breakfast, a grilled cheese for lunch and his
favorite potato soup for dinner. I was glad it was a rainy day because his
hardy soup in the summer just didn't sound appealing. But it worked out perfectly.
On the day before I took the boys to rock in river to play and sonic had 1/2
priced shakes so I convinced Josh they did it to honor his birthday. He kept saying
"that's so sweet of them." We promised him we would go bowling that
night but Ryan didn't get home late so we asked him if he wanted to go race
go-carts on Saturday. Boy did he ever jump at the chance and so glad he did. He
had a smile from ear to ear the whole time. He LOVED them. Poor Trevor had to
be in the adult races because he's so tall and the wait was 3 to 4 hrs. So he
opted not to wait and we would try again later.
Getting ready to go he's #42
1st thing in the morning Josh couldn't wait to unwrap his
presents. This one drove him nuts not knowing what it was when it was wrapped.
I had them all wrapped a week early. He kept sneaking into my closet shaking it
and checking it out. He's so like me Can't believe I'm admiting that. But I'm
such a snoop!!!
Sadie would grab the balloon string then run with it. But
when the balloon followedher so she would get scared bark at it and then hide under
the couch. When she was a little brave again she would go for the string. Freak out and run under the couch. It provided great entertainment for us.
Another nerf gun. I swear we could have a nerf land fill
with all the bullets we have lost or have around the house. But it does make
for some pretty great wars and nerf doesn’t hurt anything. Well unless you
shoot them on the window and they melt. Then it leaves a mess too bad we know
this from experience.
A classic Josh look.
Trevor was an amazing helper at rockin river. I hate getting sprayed in the face with the freezing cold water in the not so lazy river. So he said he would take Gavin around. Trevor has been so helpful this summer. He also baby sat for the 1st time while I had to go to the dentist. The younger kids said he was so nice. He sat and played plants vs zombies with Gavin. Torture to Trevor but Heaven to Gavin. He's growing into such a sweet young man. LOVE him.
The older two had
scout camps. Trevor’s 1st 6 day camp out at lost pines. It's weird to have him
gone. It's the 1st time he's been away from me this long. I sure hope he's
having a good time as it's record high heat this week and man we are melting
just going from the store to the car.
Because Trevor had camp
he had to get a physical. And Josh was due for one as well. So here they are. I didn't tell the
boys that is why they were going to the dr. So imagine their surprise when they
were told they had to strip down. To be fair I did say they were getting their well check. It's just a little differen't when you are older :).. They were not happy with me. But they were good spsorts and I made up for it after. By posting this sweet picture :).. Gavin was bouncing off the walls
in delight that he didn't have to get one. Too bad his time is coming sooner
then he wishes :)...
We had to do some rearranging in the bedrooms so Gavin got Trevor's old bed. He was so happy to have a big bed with plenty of room for Linus, peacock and jelly to sleep with him. His 3 best friends.
We have spent alot of days at the park this one is our favorite. It''s nice to go 1st thing in the morning before it gets to hot. And here they all 3 actually play together.
And we eat a TON of ice cream. I've always got Gavins in a cup expecially when we are in the car. This kid always gets vanilla ALWAYS and the one time I get it in a cone he wanted chocolate. Poor kid couldn't eat it fast enough before it melted. It was a huge mess. But a happy huge mess. Nothing a good cleaning couldn't fix.
We celebrated Father’s day. Ryan had another helper this
year opening up his presents. Not the best picture as my phone doesn't take
action shots to well. But Sadie attacked him as he was opening everything.
He has always wanted this flag to go in his Den. So finally
I got it right :). YEA. Ryan is the best Dad anyone could ever ask for. He
deserved a little spoiling. This last week for him was so crazy stressful and
then he was asked to talk in Church on Fathers day so a little extra spoiling
was in store. I love celebrating him and the great example he is to my boys.
Love him so much!!!
We also got sadie her 1st hair cut. She was looking so shaggy. The place I wanted to take her was booked and I needed to get it done soon. So pet smart it was. Not the best cut ever. But at least the poor puppy can see now.
The before picture. Gavin thought she needed a cowboy hat to
go with her new shot tags. Oh the shots. I had to take Gavin and Josh to the
vet with me. Trevor was over at a friend’s. The Dr. had the shots (rabies) on
the table, while he and I were talking the next thing I knew the shot was
flying up in the air. Gavin grabbed it and pushed it down. I instantly panicked
making sure he didn't get pricked and accidently give himself the rabies shot.
After we saw all was clear my fear turned in to anger and I told him he had to
sit on the bench sit still. After a few tears and him screaming "I don't
want to get rabies." The vet visit was over. The dr. had a great since of
humor and was more apologetic that the shot was in a place Gavin could get it.
But man I just loved taking the kids to doctor’s.
Tomorrow I'm going in for my surgery and Saturday my Trevor gets back. This week has been one for the record books of lots of things to do. I can't wait to hear how camp was. And I can't wait to get back on a healthy track.
