So we survived our 1st tornado. It was pretty frightening when the news comes on with a warning to seek shelter immediately. I was at the church and they sent us home telling us to go to our storm shelter. Ryan being the "storm chaser, ambulance chaser, DANGER SEEKER" that he is went out side in it. And he made me come with him to check out the crazy sound. The wind wasn't blowing, it was actually really calm but it sounded like a big jet airplane was right above us. And the sky was pitch black. Then the hail hit with lightening doing a crazy dance in the sky. When the boom of thunder shook the whole house we grabbed the kids and went to our storm shelter. (under the stairs closet) where we had a little party with coloring books, and good fish crackers. When we moved here we asked why people in Austin don't have basements and I was teased being told I've watched the wizard of Oz way to many times. And this ain't Kansas. OK OK I know this will happen all spring long and it's been about 2 years since a tornado hit and did some mild damage. But still this being our 1st one it was pretty scary. But exciting all at the same time. It made for a LONG EXHAUSTING NIGHT!!!

Geez you guys have had quite the experiences lately. Makes me all the more glad I live in a tornado free area.
Okay. I have to say I would be so scared for my little family. You must've been so frightened but then have to act normal for the kids would be hard. I still think it's smart for people in tornado areas to have basements... isn't it safer?
